"Qvattro is just ze name of ze automobile", the Germans retort unbelievingly.
"Look at ze papers: zis car is designt to kerry 5 persons."
"You can'ta pulla thata one on me!", replies the Italian customs officer. "Quattro meansa four. You hava fivea people ina your car and you are thereforea breaking the law."
The German driver replies angrily, "You idiot! Call your zupervisor over, I vant to speak to somevone viz more intelligence!"

Anyway, the rest of the class came so late, I ended up practicing goalkeeping with Shaohui, averaged 50% of saves to attempts. Not too bad I guess...I miss football...
Anyway, eventually got started on the coin, after lots of trial and error, eventually decided on a nice tilt outside the computer lab. Pictures to come soon.
By the way, finally started on my novel. Starting to look good already :D But finishing is the hardest part...we'll see...

Would you believe me if i said...
that we are the ones who can make the change
in the world today...
Would you believe me if i said...
that all of your dreams in your heart
can come true... today...
Would you believe me if i said...
that life could be all that you want it to be... today...
Chorus
And if i had wings i would fly
'cause all that i need, You are,
and if the world caved in around me,
to You i'd still hold on
'cause You're all that i believe
and the One that created me
JESUS.. because of You.. I'm free
Would you believe me if i said...
that God can make miracles happen today
Would you believe me if i said...
that you dont need to wait for the answers before..
you step out in faith..
Would you believe me if i said
that nothing is ever IMPOSSIBLE.. for God..
Bridge
Just live your life.. with God inside.
You won't regret one moment of it,
and give all that you can for God... for God
Saturday
First off, FRS sharing session at the Science Centre. More discussion and probing questions, and finally lunch at KFC. Then it's band practice at St. Matt's. Fairly routine day at the office for that. Then, left early to rush to COGS.
Choir practice was rather good. Messed up my Chinese words again...argh...but anyway, taught my basses and the tenors Joy to the World...pretty challenging, I bet they're still lost...but they'll be OK. Finally, a combined with the elderly and youth, went "pretty" alright. But of course that was just the teaser. After tar pau dinner, it's the big one with the youths...
Oh Happy Day turned out to be a bad song for my basses. It's no fun singing the low G for 80% of the song (even though I dun have any complaints), and they were having sore throats after the first run through. Well, the carols wouldn't give them that sort of problem...but there WILL be problems I tell you, it ain't an easy piece...
Friday
The completed coin! Measuring 1.1 metres in diameter and 8 cm in height, it is the biggest coin I have ever seen. After a tiring day in school helping the rest fix up their models, Ayob rearranged the "final" scene. It was breathtaking, seeing all the giant objects. It was extra special knowing the effort we put into making it.
Ayob coin - Complete
Thursday
Now only left with the journal, just add in a few more stuff here and there and I'm done.
Woke up REALLY late today. Had breakfast at just about 11.30 am before making my way to school. By the time I reached they had all gone for lunchbreak and I had the whole studio to myself to work on the edge of my coin. Ayob has finally come back from his reservist. So he popped in to look at my coin. "Ooo, fantastic...it rolls!" I just chuckled at his amazement. So back to the edge of my coin...then...the dreaded sound...
CLOMP, CLOMP, CLOMP, CLOMP...
Me: "Oh crap, it's Zelda..."
Zelda: "HEY...WORKING ON YOUR COIN AH?"
Me: "Yes. By the way have you eaten lunch yet?"
Zelda: "YA I EAT ORREDY!"
Me: (quietly) "Crap..."
Crawldaddy: "Hahahahaha"
Zelda: "WHAT?"
Me: Nothing, inside joke."
Crawldaddy: "Yeah, VERY inside joke."
Then she finally left us alone in peace.
5 minutes later...and...
CLOMP, CLOMP, CLOMP, CLOMP...
Zelda: "Alvin, can I borrow your ruler? I use only 5 seconds only."
Me: "Fine..."
Zelda takes my ruler and moves to her area.
I finally got the ruler back 5 minutes later.
This happened twice. The second time she even had the nerve to say "See, very fast, I finish less than 1 minute you know..." I went, "Yeah, VERY fast..." The guys from Crawldaddy's class were laughing their heads off.
So, anyway, after that, I finally managed to finish the edge of my coin, and I went to study for Communication Skills test...and laughed my head off Chapter 6.
Chapter 6 was on Interpersonal Communication a.k.a. conversational skills. It was supposed to be the "handbook" for conversations...thing is, it's so stilted that if we followed that thing by the book, you would have conversations like these:
How do you do? Pleased to meet you. I don't believe we have met. I'm .... Are you a friend of the bride or groom? What brings you to Singapore? You look a little lost. Perhaps I can help you? I'm sorry David, but I can't do it tonight. My sister is in hospital and I promised to look after her three little children. It's been nice talking to you. Please help yourself to the food/drinks.
Anyway, back to the topic. The test was relatively hard. I'll be happy with a B for Comm Skills...
So anyway, we had dinner at Mac's before we went back to the studio to work on Ayob. Kam Yew walked through the door, and let go of the handle...the door struck Jool on the face! The whole class was whirling with laughter as Jool tried to calm himself down and stop himself from laughing too much. He was not hurt in the incident. So, Wild Mushroom Pasta for dinner then it's back in the studio.
Crawldaddy was already hard at work on my coin. I don't know why he's working so hard at it...it's my project, not his, but I'm not complaining ;) After the final bits of glueing and trimming, it was time to hand it up. The paper said to hand it up at R 205. So we left the studio with the big gigantic 5 cent coin in search for R 205. So we walked to the meeting rooms...R 210, R 211...then we moved to the computer lab area...R 216, R 217...then we cut through the workshop...yes, me and Crawldaddy, navigating through the workshop with seniors hard at work on their workpieces with a giant 5 cent coin. It was comical I can tell you that...so that was R 218, and we were back at the meeting room area. Finally, light dawned upon me. I knew where R 205 was, and Crawldaddy wasn't going to be liking it...
Me: "I think I know where R 205 is..."
Crawldaddy: "Where?"
Me: "Just follow me..."
And I proceeded toward the drawing rooms. R 208...R 207...and finally, R 205.
We were back at the studio.
As we made our way back into the studio, everyone was asking us, "I thought you were looking for R 205?" To which I replied, "Yes...this IS R 205..."
Wednesday
At least I've got a new pickup for my banjo...and I dun have to miss all the church stuff anymore...
BUT WE'RE NOT IN THE WRO...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...................
Tuesday
Marketing test was OK, a bit tricky, but should be a comfortable pass. After that, more work on Ayob. Jool the Hipper Hopper was playing with his cardboard, a bit like frisbee...reminds me of the good ole' days back in SAS, when we played frisbee in the lecture theatre for Chem Yeo's class...Anyway, we had a lot of fun throwing the cardboard around, added a bit of spark to an otherwise boring run-of-the-mill day.

Sunday
In the secret
In the quiet place
In the stillness
You are there
In the secret
In the quiet hour I wait
only for You
Cause, I want to know You more
Chorus:
I want to know You
I want to hear Your voice
I want to know You more
I want to touch You
I want to see Your face
I want to know You more
I am reaching
for the highest goal
That I might receive
the prize
Pressing onward
Pushing every hindrance aside
Out of my way
Cause, I want to know You more
I'm In a Hurry (and Don't Know Why)
I'm in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life's no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I'm in a hurry and don't know why
Don't know why I have to drive so fast
My car has nothing to prove
It's not new
But it'll do zero to sixty in five point two
I'm in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life's no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I'm in a hurry and don't know why
Can't be late, I leave in plenty of time
Shakin' hands with the clock
I can't stop
I'm on a roll and I'm ready to rock
I'm in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life's no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I'm in a hurry and don't know why
Oh, I hear a voice
That says I'm running behind
Better pick up my pace
It's a race and there ain't no room for someone in second place
I'm in a hurry to get things done
Oh I rush and rush until life's no fun
All I really gotta do is live and die
But I'm in a hurry and don't know why
Friday
Finished the back of my coin before lunching with Crawldaddy and Char and Juline, with a dose of lamenessness of course. After that, returned to the studio and...lo and behold...Zelda was there...followed the guys out for "lunch" again.
So, escaped to FJ with Jool, Jackson, Wenning and Jace. Was later joined by Kam Yew. Eventually agreed to give the guys some Wings 3D coaching...turned it into a toaster modelling session...ah well, I'm a generous person ;D
Then, it's cell group at the Cheams'...Led worship, which was OK...then discussion regarding CCIS...some mess that's turning out to be...and finally sharing and prayer...ended with me jamming with Josh before coming home...it was OK, a much needed break, but something was missing from the informal jam session...
Thursday
When you're down and troubled
And you need some loving care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
Ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold
They'll hurt you, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
I was born feet first, already in a rush
I couldn't sit still for my first haircut
By the age of 12, I was planning my big escape
I ain't never been afraid of plowin' new ground
Nothin', nobody's gonna slow me down
Life's never gonna happen if I let it all slip away
I'm gonna run barefoot through it
Jumpin' over trouble like there ain't nothin' to it
Makin' my way even when it's all uphill
Oh, you're never gonna catch me standin' still
I spent most of my time on the move
Sure broke my stride runnin' into you
You blew right through my heart like a hurricane
I fell in love with you, baby, and I never looked back
You're the only one to stop me dead in my tracks
The chase was on when you said to me that day
I'm gonna run barefoot through it
Jumpin' over trouble like there ain't nothin' to it
Makin' my way even when it's all uphill
Oh, you're never gonna catch me standin' still
(Gotta run)
Never gonna stop me
(Gotta run)
Baby, you caught me
I'm gonna run barefoot through it
Jumpin' over trouble like there ain't nothin' to it
Makin' my way even when it's all uphill
Oh, you're never gonna catch me
Still never gonna catch me
You ain't never gonna catch me standin' still
(Standin' still)
You ain't never gonna catch me
(Standin' still)
I'm standin' still
AutoCAD Test - Complete
Wore formal clothes to school today for Oral Presentation. According to sources, "the bag spoilt everything." Well, not like I really cared, as long as I did my OP alright. My presentation was on goalkeepers, and apparently I got an A. Personally I think the rest of the class did a great job as well. After AutoCAD Test, went back to the studio for more lamenessness with Shaohui. Hey, that's a good name for a talk show..."Lamenessness with Shaohui"...but I digress...
Patrick is getting up my neck...Design Journals...foam model...Presentation Board...ugh...Thank God for God...
Sunday

Running from Zelda
Zelda as usual was hounding me as I was working on my 5 cent coin. Yak yak yak, yak yak yak. Eventually, I couldn't stand it, so I deliberately left for Limky's class earlier than the rest hoping to shake her off. Just as I was closing in on the lift, I heard it coming...Thump, thump, thump. True enough, the behemoth frame of Zelda was hurtling towards me like some unstoppable comet. Eventually, at the lift landing, I tried to shake her off some more. Didn't work. Eventually, I got stuck in the lift with the behemoth. Yak yak yak, yak yak yak yak. Good thing I was wearing my earphones and blasting Nickel Creek in my ears, so I just nodded periodically to satisfy her incessant yakking. When we finally reached the 7th floor, Zelda made a beeline for the classroom, while I momentarily escaped to the comfort of the male toilet. After a few minutes, I made my way to the classroom, and...lo and behold...Zelda was yakking at Limky. Yak yak yak yak, yak yak yak. You could sense the irritation emanating from Limky the same way my fart emanates from my butt. Thank goodness for John Denver for soothing my aching ears...and that's another story, which I think should find it's way into Crawldaddy's blog...

Thursday
After another late evening of war between penknife and cardboard (Read: Ayob) my parents picked me up from school again to bring me out for dinner at Suntec City to celebrate me getting 123 for Grade 8 (that means Certificate of Merit, and if you don't know what THAT is...well...it means I passed) After a sumptuous dinner at Kenny Rogers, I made my way to Tower Records to look for CDs and...lo and behold...the shop was cut in half! Then I looked for the Country section. Took me about half and hour...then I realised there was NO Country section. I literally stoned there for a few minutes...Then I noticed...Bill Monroe. There sitting pretty amongst such distinguished names such as...I don't know, Bush Whacko Mud Flingers or something like that. And so I looked around...Behind the crude imagery of Green Day was...George Strait. Behind the spooky symbols of Megadeth lay...Marty Stuart. The Eagles led to Earl Scruggs, Tammy Wynette to Three Doors Down...it was quite an experience, I tell you now. Eventually settled on the soundtrack to Oh Brother, Where Art Thou and John Denver Greatest Hits. But it ain't no ordinary Greatest Hits album. It's remastered, and also features a second disc including some unreleased material and...acoustic versions of Annie's Song and Calypso. Yes, just Denver, a guitar, and a mandolin. It's just heavenly. Pure beauty. What else can I say, just the perfect end to my day.

When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that pens wouldn't work at zero gravity - ink won't flow down to the writing surface.
In order to solve this problem, they hired Andersen Consulting (Accenture today). It took them one decade and 12 million dollars to develop a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, under water, in practically any surface including crystal, and in a temperature range from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.
The Russians used a pencil.
Friday
Yup, I got to touch Shaohui's mandolin. Picked it up pretty fast by my standards...learnt a few chords here and there...My fart parodies are getting rave reviews from my classmates! And I've finished the front of my 1.1m diameter 5 cent coin! It's a great day today!!!
And I hope you're studying...
